Re: Obama wants to quiet those that oppose him.
There is a big difference between criticizing or opposing someone and slandering/defaming their character with lies (libel and slander). I think this (if true) is what this boils down to. Undeniably there have been some serious outright lies leveled against Obama to attack his character in an attempt to steal this presidential race from him, instead of allowing this to be a fair race and letting the American people make a choice based on the facts and policy. The same thing was done to McCain in 2000 with the lies about his adopted daughter which ultimately cost him the White House. These types of deliberate lies and slander have no place in politics because it keeps Americans from making an informed decision about who we want.
As far as this accusation goes, I personally doubt that these are the actions of Obama but of his enthusiastic supporters, I can hardly blame him for others actions as I can't blame McCain for the lies that his supporters put out. But before I take a side on this I am going to try to find out the truth from a non partisan source. So far there isn't information about this on politifact or factcheck, I'll wait and see.

Actually, this would not surprise me. He has a past history of his political
opponents dropping out of a race. Started from his city council days up to the US Senate.

It is coming from the Obama campaign. He is using the State Police to remind people that he is a Christian and will lower taxes. Sounds like intimidation to me.

Re: Obama wants to quiet those that oppose him.
I wonder if these same people would prosecute those lying about Palin? Hmmmm.... Or McCain?.... I disagree with the lies about any of them... but if someone is not educated enough to see the truth or investigate it then they are naive to political games. Don't we have better things to prosecute out there.... like these Wall St. thieves?

Exactly, but I think Obama would never go for that because someone might start singing, and I don't mean those kids on the YouTube, singing We Can Change It. (I think that is the name of the song.)
